Edward
A. Cigany
Hospital Podiatrist
Edward Cigany has practiced general farrier work on all
types of horses from all disciplines for over 20 years.
He graduated from Western’s School of Horse shoeing. Ed has developed a special interest
in therapeutic shoeing. Over the past several years he has spent
a great deal of time continuing his education at The Annual
Bluegrass Laminitis Symposium hosted by Dr. Ric Redden,
The Laminitis and Diseases of the Foot Conference, The Midwest
Veterinary Conference, The North American Veterinary Conference,
The International Hoof care Summit as well as The American
Farrier Conventions and The Annual Farrier Conference at
Cornell University.
He first started working with The Equine Specialty Hospital
in 1999. Over the years he has developed a close working
relationship with Dr. William Jackson and Dr. Cynthia Jackson.
In 2004 the Equine Specialty Hospital built a Podiatry Center.
At this time Ed gave up his general practice, including
Lake Erie College Equestrian Center, to limit his practice
to referral cases only that require special therapeutic
podiatry work. The new podiatry center allows him to work
closely with the specialists at the Equine Specialty Hospital
to formulate a treatment plan for the care of your horse
using the latest technologies such as digital radiography,
ultrasound and CT scanner. Pain control and sedation are
a critical part of your horse’s treatment plan. These
areas can be quickly and appropriately addressed in a hospital
setting.
Ed has a special interest in the care of laminitic horses
at all stages, and enjoys working on these and other challenging
cases. He accepts referrals from local veterinarians as
well as farriers and trainers. |
