The Equine Specialty Hospital maintains
a comprehensive on-site Equine Podiatry Center. The purpose of
the center is to accommodate the specific therapeutic and corrective
shoeing requirements of many of our equine patients. With the
support of the hospitals diagnostic capabilities, including detailed
lameness evaluation, CT scan, MRI, digital radiography, digital
ultrasound and nuclear scintigraphy, the center prides itself
on the quality and accuracy of its work. The hospital is proud
to employ Mr. Edward Cigany as our hospital podiatrist. Mr. Cigany
has been working closely with the specialists at the hospital
since 1999 and is a valued member of the hospitals team. He brings
his expertise in podiatry and ability to work with the hospitals
specialists and clients to provide the patient the best in equine
foot care. The veterinary specialists and Mr. Cigany work closely
with your current farrier and primary care veterinarian to ensure
accuracy and quality of care upon release from the hospital. The
hospital sees hundreds of lameness patients annually. Many of
the lamenesses are the result of problems with the feet including
laminitis, navicular bone problems, coffin bone fractures, abnormal
growth patterns, flexural deformities, coffin joint abnormalities,
sequestrums, Canker and more. We perform detailed comprehensive
examinations so as to accurately diagnosis the specific cause
of the lameness and develop a therapeutic plan for the benefit
of the patient. Please call us for more information or to address
any specific questions you may have.
